Yubara Onsen
Relieve the weariness of the journey in the open-air hot spring, “Sunayu.”
“Sunayu,” the western Yokozuna champion on the nation-wide open-air hot springs ranking list.
You can enjoy three hot springs, “Bijin-no-yu (for skincare),” “Kodakara-no-yu (for having children)” and “Choju-no-yu (for a long life)”, which gush from the riverbed of the Asahi River, and are surrounded by rocks.
You can enjoy the beauty of the seasons year-round, full of rustic flavor. This hot spring can be used at anytime, 24 hours a day, free of charge.The five hot springs, “Yubara,” “Shimo-Yubara,” “Taru,” “Maga,” and “Gouroku” hot springs are collectively called the “Yubara Hot Spring Village.”
[Nature of spring] Alkaline simple hot spring, amount of discharge: 6,000L/min.
[Efficacy] Chronic cutaneous disorder, chronic feminine problems, incisures, burns, diabetes, etc.
In winter, a Chinese lemon bath will warm you up.
At the winter solstice (late December), 626 Chinese lemons are put in the open-air hot spring, “Sunayu”. It is said that one will not catch a cold throughout the year if that person takes a Chinese lemon bath. Please enjoy the tender bouquet of Chinese lemon.

- Valentine candle
February - 626 candles will be lighted in the area of open-air hot spring, “Sunayu.”

- Onsen Early Morning Market
April to December - The market opens from 7 to 9 in the morning on every Sundays. You can buy wild vegetables, vegetables, agriculture products, and folkcraft articles here in the market.

- Open-air Hot Spring Day
June- This is the biggest event at Yubara Onsen, held June 26th every year.

- Hanzaki (salamander) Festival
August - The “Hanzaki” means salamander. There are many events.

- Christmas Candle
December - 626 candles will be lighted in the area of open-air hot spring, “Sunayu.”

Must-see spots of Yubara Onsen

- Taru Onsen
- The name comes from an old story: More than 400 years ago, the water of this hot spring was poured into barrels and sent to the battle field to ease soldiers injured in battle.

- Shimo-Yubara Onsen
- The Shimo-Yubara Hot Spring consists of open-air-spas for men and women respectively and a pets’ spa (for dogs and cats) rarely seen in Japan.

- Maga Onsen
- A secluded hot spring spot which used to be the baths for people in Tsuyama and Katsuyama clans.

- Gouroku Onsen
- There is only one lodge built directly above the source of hot spring. You can feel the hot water gushing from the fracture of rocks.

- Hand and foot baths
- An even higher level of nourishment for your health can be achieved by warming both hands and feet at the same time using hot spring water drawn from the source of Yubara Onsen.
