Okayama Shrine

Founded during the Jogan era (859-877). It was once enshrined in the main enclosure of Okayama Castle. In 1573, when Ukita Naoie built Okayama Castle, the shrine was moved to its current location. As the guardian deity of Okayama Castle, he was revered by successive castle lords. The deities enshrined are Wakkyokuhi Hyakusouhime no Mikoto, Kibitsuhiko no Mikoto, Nihon Takeru, and Takeyasu Reimyochi (Mitsumasa Ikeda).
