Iwai Falls

Iwai Falls, located in the mountains of northern Okayama Prefecture, is approximately 10 meters high and 6 meters wide. As its nickname “Urami Falls” suggests, its biggest feature is that you can go around to the back side of the waterfall. You can feel a bit adventurous by walking behind the waterfall, passing under the huge rock formations. This region is also known as a region with heavy snowfall, and is famous for its waterfalls that freeze over in winter, creating spectacular "icefalls." In front of the waterfall, ``Meisui Iwai'', which has been selected as one of ``Japan's 100 Best Waters'', is gushing out. There is a legend that if you drink this water for 21 days, you will be blessed with your long-awaited child, and it is also called the ``water of childbirth''. *It is not possible to go during the winter season (late December to early April) due to snow.
